Who are we?

The Hemel Storm Community Programme was set up in September 2016 between two long-established community-focused organisations, Hemel Storm Basketball Club and Russell Hoops Ltd, that delivers a range of basketball coaching provisions for children aged 7-18yrs in the DBC (Dacorum Borough Council) area.

Storm is a well-known name in DBC and beyond. Many hundreds of fans cram into SportSpace, Hemel Hempstead’s biggest leisure facility, to watch the senior men’s basketball team compete in the EBL (English Basketball League) Division One where clubs aspire to promotion to the fully-professional BBL (British Basketball League), which is shown on Sky Sports.

Russell Hoops, meanwhile, is an extremely successful basketball coaching set-up with its roots in east Hertfordshire, but now expanding its coaching portfolio in partnership with Hemel Storm. Russell Hoops will add its years of coaching experience and quality to Storm’s established name in the DBC area.

The range of services include:

  • Skills Academy: weekly sessions allowing aspiring young basketball players to receive regular specialised coaching via a block booking or on a pay-and-play basis
  •  Holiday coaching camps: full-day coaching covering a range of ages and abilities, but with a specific basketball focus during school holidays
  • Match day coaching packages: taking place in alignment with Hemel Storm home fixtures, a coaching session combined with tickets to watch Storm’s senior men’s team in competitive action
  • School Community Programme: linked with local primary and secondary schools, with the development of after-school club offerings and official sports pathway partners

This is a slam-dunk winner for children of all ages in the Dacorum area. Make sure you get involved!
