There was no rest for the Russell Hoops coaching staff during the Easter break as they hosted back-to-back basketball camps for the very first time.
Both camps were a great success and saw a massive turn-out, not only our regular players but also from the Hertfordshire Warriors Basketball Club.
The Easter camps were attended by our most talented group of players who came together for our three-day event which concluded with a camp tournament. The players battled to showcase their talent displaying to the coaches what they had learnt during the week.
CAMP 1 had over 30 participants, whilst CAMP 2 was a sell-out with 45 players working throughout the week to improve their skills.
Russell Hoops Camp Director, Ben Russell, had this to say:
“It was really great to see such a great turn-out for both our camps and see so many more new faces attending. All the players did a fantastic job in representing their clubs and schools to best of their ability.”‘
Both camps ended with a presentation where our coaches gave awards for the following categories:
Coaches’ player: Jamie Costello-Munday
Most improved player: Haris Jemal
Most potential player: James Surtees
Most valuable player: Nicholas Page
Coaches’ player: Robin Bedford
Most improved player: Dominic Hearn
Most potential player: Dominic Scott-Robinson
Most valuable player: Bethany Sarson
There was also an “ALL STAR” team selection. The coaches chose five players that had showed not only their ability on the court but fantastic leadership skills and a great attitude for the game. This award went to the following campers:
The ALL STAR 5: Jay Chitolie, Francesca Quinn, Charlie Carr, Luke O’Mahony and Zoe Littlechild
